Dr. Bill Spyropoulos is a native of Greece. He emigrated to the US at the early age of 5. His mother, a dentist, and his father, a pediatrician, sought a better life for their 3 children. At an early age Dr. Bill’s father would routinely call Bill into the office to watch examinations. On many occasions, Bill would be responsible for offering encouragement and support for children before, during and after their examinations.
Fueled by this love of medicine and providing care, Dr. Bill attended Penn State University to continue his education. There, Dr. Bill played competitive racquetball. He and his partner won a bronze medal at the Collegiate Nationals, as well as many Penn State titles. Dr. Bill graduated with his liberal arts degree with a B.S. in psychology; he then completed all of the pre-med requirements and was accepted into podiatry training.
He attended Manhattan’s New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in Harlem, a leading institution on podiatric medical education for more than 100 years. Because of his outstanding merit, he was chosen to serve as chief resident. After completing his residency, Dr. Bill used his podiatric skills to serve the Brooklyn community, joining the medical teams of four outpatient clinic locations of the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. There, he regularly saw 40 or more patients per day, many of whom were diabetic, and provided everything from routine care to wound treatment to surgical treatments. As part of his extensive treatment of diabetic patients, he coordinated care with the Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing Center at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Bill worked with patients of all ages at the Brookdale Family Care Center, including many pediatrics patients which became a sub specialty of sorts.
